It appears in shades of purple, with some green or blue hues, and has a smooth, waxy luster. With a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, it's quite durable. Composed of silicon dioxide, it ranges from translucent to opaque. To preserve its color, store it away from direct sunlight and humidity.
